A seven-year-old can dress herself in the morning and pull them off at the beach without help. They're the plain-bottom half of a wardrobe full of loud prints — six solid colors, so whatever aloha top she's wearing has something to sit against.

Sizes — 7, 8, 10, 12, 14

Waist — elastic, pull-on

Colors — Black, Denim, Khaki, Navy Blue, Pink, White

Fabric — 100% cotton

Label — Strawberry Guava, made in Hawaii

How This Fits

Order her usual girls' size. The elastic waist covers a fair range, so if she's between 8 and 10 and still growing, take the 10 and let her wear it a season longer — a pull-on waist forgives extra room in a way a buttoned pair doesn't. Cotton will tighten up a little on a hot wash, which is worth remembering if she's already at the top of a size.

Wear It For

School mornings, a luau where she's in a matching print top, playing in the sand, and the flight home. Khaki, Navy Blue and White pass most uniform-type dress codes; Pink and Denim are the ones she'll pick herself.

Care

Machine wash cold, tumble low.
