Buying guide & FAQ
Pick the fabric first
Most of the HIC boardshorts here are 8-way stretch, which moves with you in every direction: Backyards, Tumbleland, South Point, Kalama, Trifecta and Tiburon Shark, to name a few. Kanaha and Kona Tiki are quick dry. Nua and Lopa are microsuede, which feels soft and brushed rather than slick.
Lengths run from 19 to 23.5 inches. The number at the front of each name is the outseam, so a 19 inch short sits higher on the leg than a 21 or 23 inch short.
Walk shorts, swim trunks and volleyball shorts
For dry land, the 23 inch Mauna Kea cargo walk short and the Chiba Chino 8-way stretch walk short both go to a 60 waist. The Claymore is a walk short cut from boardshort fabric.
If you'd rather have a liner, the Kaanapali Beach swim trunks have a mesh liner and run Small to 4X-Large. Fast Break (mesh) and Unwind (cotton fleece) are HIC's volleyball shorts.
Sizing
Boardshorts and walk shorts sized in numbers are waist measurements in inches. Swim trunks and volleyball shorts are sized Small to 2X or 4X. Not sure? Measure a pair you like across the waistband and email the number to jz@MauiShirts.com.
