Hawaiian Sarongs & Pareo Wraps
Sarongs (also called pareos) for the beach, the pool and the walk back to the car. Most come in a full 44 x 68 inch size, many in a half 22 x 68 inch size, and some solids come in a plus size of 44 x 86 inches.
Buying guide & FAQ
Which size sarong do you need?
A full sarong (about 44 x 68 inches) is big enough to tie as a dress, a long skirt or a shoulder wrap. A half sarong (about 22 x 68 inches) works as a short skirt or a scarf and packs down to nothing. If you want more length or more wrap, the Solid Background sarong also comes in a plus size, 44 inches wide by 86 inches long.
Each product page lists the exact measurements, since a few prints run a couple of inches different.
Batik, hand painted or printed rayon
You'll find batik pareos, hand painted Hibiscus and Anthurium Border sarongs, printed rayon wraps like Polynesian Border and Hibiscus Swirl, and prints like Honu Turtle and Polynesian Quilt. Several, like Tattoo Turtle and Polynesian Quilt, are marked unisex, and men wear them as beach cover-ups too.
How to tie one
The easiest dress: hold the long edge behind you at your back, bring both ends forward under your arms, cross them over your chest, and tie them behind your neck. For a skirt, wrap it around your waist and knot the corners at your hip.
Common questions
What is the difference between a sarong and a pareo?
They're the same thing: a rectangle of light fabric you wrap and tie. Pareo is the Tahitian name, and you'll see both words used in Hawaii.
What size sarong should I buy?
A full 44 x 68 inch sarong ties as a dress or long skirt. A half 22 x 68 inch sarong makes a short skirt or scarf. The plus size, 44 x 86 inches, gives more length and wrap.
Can men wear a sarong?
Yes. Several of our sarongs are cut as unisex beach cover-ups, like Tattoo Turtle and Polynesian Quilt.
